Mobile Device Expectations

North Thurston Public Schools' mobile device use policy supports students focusing on learning during the day. 

Students in preschool through 8th grade

• Devices are off and away all day.

Students in high school (grades 9–12)

• Devices are silenced and out of sight during all instructional times throughout the school day. Students may use their devices during lunch and during passing time.

Parents may call the school office to reach their students. Students may also get permission to go to the office to contact their parents. All students have an assigned Chromebook for school-related technology use. Schools have family-wide communication methods in place in the event of an emergency.

With our mobile device policy, we strive for higher levels of school engagement and learning, reduced anxiety and distraction for students, and more positive face-to-face interactions with peers and staff.
